It was fine. It was quick.
Listened to The Rumor, a podcast about an old rumor related to a postponed game during Cal Ripken’s consecutive game streak.
This isn’t actually a recommendation because I’m not sure how good it really was. But if you like baseball and have some long drives in your future…
Heaven’s River by Dennis E. Taylor 📚
Loved the Bobiverse series at the outset, and was still mostly entertained through to #3. I could hardly follow this one. And it was full of filler.
I’ve learned to set books down when I’m not enjoying them. Why didn’t I do that this time?
If you are an iPhone user and want to try the Bluetooth earbud game, but don’t want to shell out for Apple product, these Ankers are pretty good IMO. I’ve gotten a few of these renewed ones and had good success. They were closer to $35 when I picked them up. 🎵
There needs to be a central API for album/music search. One that provides album details, art, and potentially service/affiliate links. Might need to reach out to Songwhip to see if they’re working on something.
🎵 Blue Heron Suite by Sarah Jarosz
A beautiful recording. It feels like the band is sitting in the room with me. I’ll have to listen to the lyrics at some point.
Trying to decide if I want to ask some friends if any of them want to spend one arm and one leg to see Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band next weekend.
This week has me thinking hard about habits. Habit is the most powerful thing in the world in how it impacts one’s day-to-day life. My mind has finally broken through to thinking about the history leading to my poor habits impacting my children. More to come in my newsletter.
I have not really sat and listened to many Bruce Springsteen albums. Winding down this Friday afternoon, I’ve grabbed Tunnel of Love from a stack of recently-ordered used CDs. Good little album!
Oleta Adams first received international acclaim for her work with Tears for Fears, lending needed emotion to their albums. Circle of One is her wonderful first solo album. Production in part by Roland Orzabal from Tears for Fears. (And a bonus for you.)
I wonder why macOS replaced the nice photo quick preview with this tiny version?
Socks rocked off.
A package from overseas.
If I’m listening to an album that I’m discovering for the first time, is it interesting to share that album here? Let’s find out. Some high quality, laid back nordic jazz incoming… The Sweetest Sound by Angelo Verploegen, Ed Verhoeff, and Eric Van der Western. 🎵
Two of my daughters wanted to get into vinyl. I love it! However, I have successfully steered them toward CDs as a start because they are more affordable, convenient, and portable (for that college life). Of course this means I am now getting back into CDs. 🤣
Heading to a Shins concert tonight. Excited! 🎵
I am working on upgrading my home stereo. Oh the rabbit holes I am going down. 🎵
Shop towels.
Saw some art today.
Did you know there is an MST3K text adventure game released in 1996? Though I don’t think it was “official,” it was based on a badly-done text adventure game written by a 12 year old. MST3K: Detective can be played at archive.org. More deets here.
Just drafted my newsletter to send out on Wednesday. It always has some writing that is not part of my blog/microblog, as well as a rundown of my bloggings and a few links. Sign up if you’re into that sort of thing!

Now I’m reading explanations of the book. I kind of rushed through the audio (before it returned to my library), and following the narrator around via audio was a bit challenging.
