Just pushed my All Time Favorites list out to Album Whale. This is a small portion of the eventual list. I will add albums from time-to-time as I remember them. This type of list is exactly why I added RSS to album lists as I imagine subscribing to other people’s feeds. 🎵

Countdown to Red Hot Chili Peppers (and The Strokes) pre-order. I should really think of a budget before I enter…

Read No Time Like the Future by Michael J. Fox 📚

Two MJF bios in one year seems like a bit much. I didn’t find this one quite as engaging as Lucky Man, but a worthwhile listen from my library.

I feel like every time there is a day I try to stay tech free, some random event puts me back on the computer/device. This time it is a new iPad’s screen pooping out.

Not that I know soccer, but…

It looked hopeful at times, but US just doesn’t have the passing control of the top teams. And they were missing defensive coverage a lot. They seem to have the athleticism, though.

So I have this idea. What if there were a service that combined your consumed things into one feed. It’d ingest RSS from, say, Letterboxd, Album Whale, and Goodreads. It would display this unified feed simply, and maybe allow some tagging. Perhaps it should be built…

Lots of lists have come through the past couple of days on Album Whale. Big thanks to the Micro.blog community for giving it a try! If you haven’t yet, I welcome you to sign up. Thanks!

Album Whale is open for signup! We’re just getting started and discovery features are on the way. It would be a tremendous help if anyone interested in what Album Whale can become could build a quick Top 10 list (Ex: Fav College Listens, Top Albums to Focus, Best of 2022, etc).

Also read Job: A Comedy of Justice by Robert A. Heinlein 📚

Read Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan 📚

The right book, exactly. At exactly the right time.

I really quite enjoyed this book, but the Google / Silicon Valley love has not aged well, unfortunately. It was easy for me to dip into the book’s world, though.

Launching Album Whale this week. As it will launch with very few features, I think I’ll use a new Micro.blog account to serve as an update feed. It will probably be a Good Enough account with Album Whale as a category. Keeps us open for future blogging and a doevery.day feed.

Doing some video processing (I take them off of iCloud and put them on my NAS for easy family Plex viewing) and I’m reminded that this little ExifRenamer software is worth its weight in giving the author a PayPal donation every year.

DMB, been awhile.

What do you think happens when you click on this in macOS’s Apple Music?

Last mild day for the fall, so I went for a walk.

I turned on Apple Photos shared library to share photos with my wife. I’m always nervous, so I have my full library downloaded to my MacBook. With shared library, I can no longer store it all on my MacBook. Time to nervously turn on Optimize Mac Storage.

I’m thinking of getting a MacBook Pro when the next cycle is unleashed. 2023? Main reason is so this excellent 2020 MacBook Air can replace one of our older family computers. I might do the unthinkable and not go with a fresh install on the new computer.

If you’re consistent, I guess this’ll happen to everyone who plays daily.

I need to fire up an email sending service for an app I’m building. Mailgun is probably more dev friendly. SendGrid has email marketing if I need it down the road. They both track the heck out of you.

Is there a reliable option out there with no tracking?

Amazon Prime says:

More ad-free music, increasing from 2 million to over 100 million songs in shuffle mode

I wondered what that meant in practice, so I logged in via my browser. I searched for Pink Floyd’s The Wall. I can listen to the album, but only on shuffle. So strange.

I turned on importing my Letterboxd posts into micro.blog, but I think its just a bit too loud. I would really like a feed where these consumed items were small little posts interleaved with regular posts. So much so that I consider writing my own blog engine from time to time.
