Surprising my 15-months-ago self, I got some books out of storage.

I have acquired a mild Fortnite addiction thanks to my kids. Good thing is we’re having fun playing together!

My good friend, Nate, has started a newsletter about theology and R-rated movies. He plans on writing for an audience of both laity and clergy. If movies and religion hit two of your likes, I highly recommend it! Intro & the first letter. Blues Brothers incoming! 🍿

I grew up on a farm in rural Minnesota, yet I just heard the phrase “All boots, no cattle” for the first time and I love it.

Finished reading: Sourdough by Robin Sloan. Didn’t enjoy this as much as Mr. Penumbra’s. I kind of got lost in the last quarter of it. 📚

Why Not Mars (Idle Words) - an interesting takedown of the manned Mars mission.

Happy New Year to those who celebrate.

Heading to friends for our first normal NYE in a few years. Taking a break from cocktail mixing for some basic porters and IPAs.

Last year’s unexecuted ideas mean I have two expiring domains that I’m going to have trouble letting go of: thingslearned.net and thingslearned.org. Maybe I’ll just keep the .net…

Perhaps Teabag Style walking will be the 2023 health fad?

What happens happens. And then we are gone.

Speaking of logging in all the time, I have two different Apple TVs that daily are asking me to either log in with my Apple ID or log in to apps, such as Netflix. Sometimes restarting the Apple TV “resolves” it. I just keep logging in all the time forever. Restarting always.

Whenever I need to visit a web service I feel like I spend 25% of my time authenticating and validating and logging in and fingerprinting. I feel like I should only be spending 5% of my time doing this. (Or really, 1%.) Is this because I use Safari?

Finished reading Project Hail Mary: A Novel yesterday. The first half was a bit slow for me to work through, but I sped through the second half. 📚

An aggressive day of Klask.

At least we’ll always have “Plaid, Inc. Privacy Litigation Settlement Administrator has sent you $35.97 USD.”

I am done littering Fosstdon with my non-FOSS posts. Find me @bjhess@social.lol now!

I know we bag on the Apple Music app a lot, but, man, has Calendar never been fully cooked. The biggest pain for me is its straight up loss of my email alert settings for recurring events time after time after time. Oof!

omg.lol account procured. Now to determine if I’m going to move my Fosstodon/Mastodon account over to social.lol.

I’ve had a standing desk that’s only been standing + stool-leaning for a decade. I think it’s time I get a chair for those occaisions I want to sit. Chair recommendations? Assuming it’s not a mega-expensive one, have you used a mega-expensive one and can you compare them? Thanks!

I see omg.lol prices are going up next year? I should probably jump in and support the weird web.

It’s nice to have a designer friend to help you out. Though we do have to tighten this up.
